Storage Ideas for Your Pop-up Camper

As anyone who has ever tried it will tell you, camping in a pop-up trailer is one of the most memorable ways to get outdoors. It combines the intimacy of outdoors tent camping with the improved comfort of camping in an RV. But unlike RVs, pop-up campers can be short on space for storage due to their collapsible design. For this reason, it’s important to think ahead, invest in some storage equipment, and learn the best way to handle the puzzle of figuring out where to put all your possessions. Once you master these simple steps, you’ll be on your way to unforgettable vacations.

Lone Star RV specializes in RVs and pop-up campers. If you’re looking for a new camper, or just need service on the one you already have, stop by our Houston, Texas dealership and showroom.

Equipment
Anyone who has ever lived in a tiny apartment knows how crucial it is to be organized and smart about the way you use space, and this is doubly true in campers in which the floor space is extremely limited. Before you head out on your first trip, you’ll want to invest in some organizational equipment to make sure your belongings are organized and packed away in a space-saving manner. Plastic drawers are a great way to sort things out. You can divide your belongings by task, so that all of your cooking equipment is in one set of drawers, while all your hygiene supplies and your first aid kit is in another. A tension rod can prove extremely helpful, too. Vertical tension rods can support racks and shelves, and then collapse down into hardly any space at all, while horizontal tension rods can add space for hanging clothes or putting up a privacy curtain.
Planning
Planning ahead is a great way to make sure you have everything you need, and that everything you need has a home. Doing your meal prep ahead of time and then freezing your meals is an easy way to reduce stress and spend more time on leisure as opposed to cooking and cleaning. Figuring out a system for laundry is very helpful, as well. If you’re going to be out long enough that you’ll need to wash your clothes, come prepared with a roll of quarters and trash bags to keep dirty clothes and clean clothes separate.
The Pop-Up Puzzle

No matter how much thought you put into organization, you’ll almost always feel like you don’t have enough space. This is why it’s important to master the puzzle that is pop-up camping. Mastering the puzzle requires knowing what should go where and when so that you’re always getting as much space as is available. You can save a few inches of space in your luggage by putting your bedding on the mattress before you leave. Once you arrive at your campsite, take all of your storage containers (or at least the ones that don’t contain valuables or food) and put them under the outstretched bed platform. They’ll be sheltered from the elements and you’ll have a ton of extra space in your camper. Keep moving and shifting things around as space opens up, and you’ll have a more space for a relaxing trip.
