Improve Sleep Quality in Your RV

One of the more common issues RV owners experience is trouble sleeping. Whether it’s an uncomfortable mattress or too much light and noise outside, it can be challenging to get adequate rest when you’re on the road.

So, how can you make sleeping in your camper just as comfortable as sleeping at home? Let’s find out:

Upgrade Your Mattress

Your mattress impacts the quality of your sleep. Before your next road trip, test out the mattress to see if it’s time to invest in a new one.

Does the mattress in your camper match the firmness of the one in your bedroom? Is it too springy or not soft enough? If so, it might be an old mattress that needs updating.

If you own an older RV, keep in mind that most companies make mattresses designed to fit in their older models. Make sure to contact them to find out what mattress options they have available.

Buy New Bedding

Scratchy, low-quality sheets and lumpy pillows may also contribute to your traveling insomnia.

If you can’t afford a mattress upgrade, or feel that it isn’t the issue, try getting sheets made of natural fibers with a high thread count so that you don’t feel itchy. Make sure to bring a mix of heavy and lightweight blankets for all types of weather.

And don’t forget to bring your favorite pillow, or buy a new one specifically for travel, to get the best sleep support.

Adjust Temperature & Humidity

If your camper feels warm and stuffy, or too cold, then you’re going to struggle to sleep.

Control the temperature of your room with space heaters in winter and fans during the summer so that you can stay comfortable.

If your camper has issues with humidity control, investing in a humidifier will help to add moisture in a dry climate, and a dehumidifier will help to remove excess moisture in wet environments.

Traveling in your RV is an excellent way to escape the stresses of daily life and get out into the great outdoors. With the addition of fans, heaters, new bedding, and perhaps even an updated mattress, you are sure to have quality rest in your RV — wherever the road takes you.
